Questo weekend per me sarà il weekend decisivo per l’acquisto dei regali di Natale, per cui ho iniziato a guardami un po’ intorno non solo per negozi ma anche online.

La lettura di questo libro è arrivata nel momento più adatto della mia carriera professionale, mi è stato proposto un ruolo che mi allontana da tutte le attività marketing che mi piaceva svolgere, per un lavoro più analitico e di supporto a un nuovo mercato di riferimento. Ero scontenta ma allo stesso tempo orgogliosa dell’opinione che i miei colleghi vecchi e nuovi avessero e hanno di me e mi sono resa conto che cambiare non era un male, perché forse sei meno motivato ad investire su di te quando ti ritrovi a seguire per anni le stesse attività.
Reading this book has arrived at a time more suitable to my professional career, I was offered a role that I away from all marketing activities that I used to play, for a more analytical work and support to a new market. I was annoyed but at the same time proud of opinion that my colleagues old and new had and have me and I realized that change was not a bad thing, because maybe you’re less motivated to invest about yourself when you find yourself follow the same tasks for years.
Mi è stato di vera ispirazione il discorso che l’autrice ha fatto nel 2011 durante la cerimonia per le lauree di una scuola femminile di arti liberali di New York:
“Voi siete la promessa per un mondo più equo. La mia speranza, per tutte voi che siete qui è che dopo aver superato questa fase, dopo aver ottenuto il diploma, dopo essere uscite stasera per darvi alla pazza gioia, voi vi facciate avanti con decisione. Troverete qualcosa che amerete fare e lo farete con gusto. Trovate la carriera giusta per voi e arriverete ai vertici. Stasera, scendendo da questo palco, inizierà la vostra vita da persone adulte. I was truly inspired by the speech that she did in 2011 during the ceremony for master’s degrees to a women’s liberal arts school in New York:

You will find something you love to do and you do so with gusto. Find the right career for you and you will arrive at the top. Tonight, going from this stage, begin your life by adults. Start pointing upward. Try and try. Like everyone here, I have high hopes for the students of this class. I hope that you will find the true meaning, contentment and passion in life. I hope that you will pass the difficult times and emerged with greater strength and decisiveness. I hope you find the balance you need, whatever it is, wide-eyed. And I hope that you have the ambition to get ahead in your career and to rule the world. Because the world needs to be changed by you. Women all over the world rely on you. Dopo aver letto queste parole mi sono resa conto che ero stata fortunata a ricevere questa opportunità perché il fatto che mi allontanava da quello che effettivamente voglio fare nella vita, cioè occuparmi di Marketing & Communication, aveva risvegliato in me la determinazione di raggiungere i miei obiettivi professionali, che ha caratterizzato da sempre le mie scelte di studi scolastici e universitari. Non avrò paura, oserò e non mi farò intimidire da nessuna persona o circostanza che bloccherà il mio percorso.
After reading these words, I realized that I had been fortunate to get this opportunity because the fact that I walked away from what you actually want to do in life, dealing with Marketing & Communication, had awakened me the determination to achieve my professional goals, which has always characterized my choices of school and university studies. Do not be afraid, I will not dare and intimidate any person or circumstance that will block my path.
Per questo ho deciso di aggiornarmi ulteriormente completando i miei studi con un master part time in Strategic Marketing Management perché bisogna ogni tanto uscire dal proprio mondo lavorativo e confrontarsi con gli altri per capire come migliorarsi e non rimanere ancorati alle proprie convinzioni.
That’s why I decided to update further completing my studies with a part-time master in Strategic Marketing Management because you have to occasionally get out of the business world and confront others figuring out how to improve and do not remain anchored to their beliefs.
Ho trovato veramente interessanti oltre il capitolo del discorso anche i capitoli “Cerca la tua verità ed esprimila”, “Non porre limiti inutili alle tue scelte” e “Fa del tuo partner un vero compagno” e trovo che soprattutto questo capitolo potrà essere di aiuto per tante donne, io mi ritengo fortunata il mio compagno, ormai da 14 anni, non mi ha mai ostacolata nonostante le mie scelte di studio mi hanno allontanata fisicamente dal nostro rapporto per 5 anni, lui ha sempre e continua a credere nelle mie capacità, sa che il mio successo è anche il suo successo senza il cui supporto non sarebbe mai arrivato. Entrambi ambiamo ad avere in un futuro una famiglia e già da ora lavoriamo insieme per la parità nei compiti domestici, che può sembrare banale ma è il privo vero grande supporto che serve per poter portare avanti successi personali e professionali, il mito della donna che sa far tutto non ha senso, la collaborazione è la soluzione vincente.
I found really interesting over the chapter of the speech also the chapters “Find your truth and express it”, “Do not place unnecessary limits to your choices” and “Does your partner a true companion” and I find that this chapter will be of help to so many women, I feel lucky my buddy, from 14 years now, he has never blocked me, despite my choices of study have physically moved away from our relationship for 5 years. He has always and continues to believe in my abilities, knows that my success is also his success without whose support would never arrived. Both we strive to have in the future a family and now we are working together for equality in domestic tasks, which may seem trivial but is lacking true great support you need in order to pursue personal and professional achievements, the myth of the woman who knows how to do everything does not make sense, collaboration is the winning solution.
